Color is an intangible construct of the brain, not a physical property of objects. In my recent body of work, I am focusing on color in the singular sense, which encompasses all colors, represented by the four different color palettes seen in the work. Meaning is experiential; it is derived from the visual phenomenon that occurs through observation; of which, hue, scale, proximity, and proportion are paramount. The intention of this work is to demonstrate that color possesses a power to convey meaning that is unconstrained by image. However, this power is not completely autonomous. Color, and the absence of color, creates a symbiotic relationship in which each depends upon the other for meaning. One cannot be truly appreciated or understood without knowing and experiencing the opposite.
